• W4319923798 abstract "A great deal of focus and attention has been devoted towards the societal health and well-being of the global society, but an exponential increase has been witnessed in sexual violence against women across the globe. This paper examines the research conducted about sexual violence against women (SVAW) across the world, besides incorporating empirical study from Pakistan. The paper encompasses studies on SVAW through purposive sampling to study the global interventions in the 21st century, especially from 2010 to 2022. The study establishes that the continuation of violence against women results from a perpetuated sociocultural belief of the people towards gender and gender order. Some positive change has been witnessed in the UK and USA where the focus has been shifted from victim blaming to addressing the causes of sexual abuse. Conversely, the issue is found persistent in its full shape and volume in developing countries, including Pakistan, where SVAW is still one of the most neglected areas of research. Finally, this study suggests news reporting and media discourses to be enterprising and useful avenues of research in this context." @default.
