- W4319989031 abstract "Mild steel (MS) is consumed on high scale in engineering applications due to its good operational properties and cost effectiveness. However, chloride attack on MS can damage its properties and affect its service performance. In present work, the water extract of grapes stems (WEGS) is used to inhibit corrosion of MS in 0.5 M NaCl. WEGS is investigated through Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and WEGS is found to contain numerous functional groups. The corrosion investigation is done by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), open circuit potential (OCP), Tafel polarization curves (TPC), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX). The corrosion results favoured the fact that WEGS is inhibiting MS corrosion. This fact is also supported by FESEM and EDX analysis. The reason of corrosion inhibition is proposed as covering of MS surface by WEGS molecules." @default.
