- W4320002290 abstract "The UK government resources and waste strategy is focused on eliminating all types of waste generated from different sectors by 2050 to achieve sustainable development. It is a known fact that construction and demolition waste (C&DW) amounts to a significant amount of waste generated which causes global warming, health issues, pollutes the environment, and leads to natural materials depletion. Over the years, there have been different initiatives to create zero avoidable waste in construction based on the negative impacts of cement-based material production and the urgent need for waste reduction, reuse, and recycling. The use of sustainability rating systems has been seen to have various advantages most especially assessing how much sustainable practices have been embedded into a project. With regards to concrete production, sustainability rating has created a detailed analysis of the environmental performance and lifecycle assessment of concrete products. This chapter provides an overview of how to promote concrete recycling through the adoption of sustainable rating systems, legislations, standards and other modern technological innovations For different readers like industry and academia. Also, this chapter provides further recommendations on how sustainability rating systems for concrete recycling can be developed by professionals within the academic and industry community." @default.
