- W4320004311 abstract "Several plant diseases, caused by microorganisms, comprising bacteria, viruses, protozoa, fungi, and nematodes, exert influence on agricultural practices and result in considerable crop damage. Agrochemicals play a crucial role in plant disease management to establish a beneficial and sustainable agricultural system. Nevertheless, the extensive use of chemicals has a detrimental impact on humans and ecosystem activity and also decreases agricultural sustainability. Sustainable agriculture is attained through the depletion or removal of fertilizers and agrochemicals, resulting in an inconsequential impact on the environment. Currently, the application of antagonistic endophytes as biocontrol agents is gaining huge attention as an attractive choice for the management of some plant diseases. Endophytic symbiotic microbes are explicit in distinct ways and a recent definition encompasses all of the culturable microbes that live within healthy plant tissues causing no apparent harm to their host. Endophytes have huge potential as biocontrol agents and reprise the requirement for combined efforts to receive more basic knowledge about endophyte biology before they can be used efficaciously for biocontrol. There are escalating efforts are made for aiming to utilize endophytes as biological control agents (BCAs) to enhance crop production. Potential endophytes are studied in vivo and in vitro to assess their antagonistic potential by several mechanisms, comprising synthesis of lytic enzymes and antibiotics, mycoparasitism, and induction of plant defenses. Recently, efforts are being made to commercialize these biocontrol agents. Recently ongoing research work including screening, in vitro and in vivo testing, biomass synthesis and commercialization of endomicrobiome as BCAs may add to sustainable agriculture." @default.
