Po drugie, zastanawiając się nad tym konkretnym przeoczeniem polskich autorów, staram się poruszyć bardziej ogólną kwestię dotyczącą konceptualizacji dóbr wspólnych, a dokładniej: plebejskich dóbr wspólnych. Pokazuję, że dobra wspólne konstruowane i reprodukowane przez grupy podporządkowane charakteryzują się ulotnością. Dzieje się tak dlatego, że plebejskie podmiotowości – w walce o obronę dobra wspólnego przed grodzeniami – posługują się strategią ucieczki przed przedstawicielami państwa i kapitału. W ten sposób dobra wspólne stają się – w znacznym stopniu – niedostrzegalne także dla badaczy korzystających z archiwów klas dominujących. Ale to, że plebejskie dobra wspólne wymykają się z archiwów, niekoniecznie oznacza, by ​​nie istniały i by nie mogły przetrwać. W konkluzji zarysowuję paradygmat „asocjologii historycznej” jako możliwego podejścia w badaniu nieczytelnych i ulotnych form dobra wspólnego.
