- W4322485004 abstract "Self-forming dynamic membrane bioreactor (SFDMBR) is a promising membrane technology for wastewater treatment, due to its advantages such as high flux, low fouling, and low cost for operation and maintenance. The core component, dynamic membrane (DM), is different from commercial microfiltration membranes. DM modules use cheap mesh material with larger pore size (10–200 μm) as the supporting layer, above which a denser dynamic membrane layer will be self-assembled for filtration. The idea of DM originated from the 1960s, through extensive studies in the decades, it has been applied for the purpose, and recently for the upgrading of conventional activated sludge process into SFDMBR-based bioreactors. This chapter introduces the recent advances in SFDMBR on the aspects of membrane module, reactor configuration and operation, and discusses its potential applications and operating strategies to enhance the DM formations as well." @default.
