There are various aspects to discussing the topic. The first one is constitutional abuse and its influence on Christian lives. The second aspect concerns political Christianity. The Hungarian political practice can be characterised by an amalgam of clericalism, religious fundamentalism and the New Right’s increasing influence. A further aspect of analysis refers to the significance of radical and positive theology, the representatives of which seek to exceed a mere apology for capitalism and highlight the troubles of increasing social inequality and its structural reasons. The paper concludes that Christian hopes cannot be fulfilled if the Church’s behaviour reveals traits of soft-pedalling. Instead, they could be anchored in the remnants of civil society and local religious communities’ spiritual and lifestyle legacy." @default.
