• W4323045192 abstract "국내외 관광 교육 및 연구 역사가 60여년에 달함에도 불구하고, 관광학의 학문적 발전과 정체성에 대한 논란이 여전하고 특히 관광학 연구 분야의 편향성에 대한 비판이 지속되고 있다. 이 연구는 이러한 편향성을 야기한 행위자로써 관광 연구자들의 학문적 궤적을 탐색하여, 관광 연구의 편향성을 이해하는 새로운 관점을 제공하려고 하였다. 이를 위해 국내 4년제 대학에 재직중인 관광 분야 교원들(n=708)을 대상으로 하여, 이들의 인구통계학적 특징과, 전공분야, 임용시기 및 학문적 배경 등 학문적 궤적을 분석하였다. 또한 임용시기별로 이들의 특징을 비교 분석하여 국내 관광 연구의 전개 상황과 관광 연구자들의 학문적 배경과의 연관성을 분석하였다. 연구결과 국내 관광 분야 교원들은 남성 교원(65.1%)이 여성 교원(34.9%)보다 많았으며, 평균 연령은 53.5세로 장년층 연구자가 많았고, 수도권보다는 지방에, 그리고 국공립대보다는 사립대에 소속된 교원들이 더 많았다. 학사학위 과정에서 관광 관련 학과를 졸업한 교원은 ⅓에 미치지 못하며, 학사과정보다는 석사과정, 석사과정 보다는 박사과정에서 관광학을 전공한 교원의 비중이 더 큰 것으로 나타났다. 특히 국내 관광교원의 전공 학문은, 관광학을 제외하면, 경영학의 비중이 10% 수준으로 가장 큰 것으로 나타났고, 관광학을 전공한 교원의 세부 전공분야는 관광경영/경제(62.9%)와 관광사업/레저사업(8.6%)로 경영학과 연관성이 매우 큰 것으로 나타났다. 이 연구의 결과는 국내 관광 연구논문들이 경영학적 기반에 경도되어 있는 현상을 일부 설명할 수 있다. 마지막으로 이 연구의 결과를 바탕으로 관광학 연구와 교육을 위한 시사점과 연구의 한계점을 제시하였다. With more than 60 years of history of tourism education and research, there have been ongoing controversies around the identity issues of tourism studies and the concentration phenomenon of research topics among tourism academics. This study aimed to explore the trajectory of the tourism researchers who had caused the concentration phenomenon of research topics, and thereby to provide a different perspective to understand this phenomenon. For this study, information on the tourism researchers working at four-year universities in Korea were collected using data from database of Korean Researcher Information (KRI). From the data, the demographic characteristics and academic background information of the tourism researchers including the major study fields, appointment period to the affiliated universities and specialized research areas were analyzed. In addition, while comparing the researchers’ characteristics by their appointment periods, it examined the relatedness of the tourism researchers’ background to the concentration phenomenon. Among the total 708 tourism researchers, male (65.1%) researchers outnumbered female (34.9%) researchers, and the senior researchers (50s∼60s) were more than juniors (30s∼40s) with the mean age of 53.5. While the researchers with tourism related degrees in their universities were less than ⅓, more researchers majored tourism areas in their master degrees than undergraduate degrees, and further much more in their doctoral degrees. Interestingly, focusing on the researchers’ doctoral degrees, the business management-related degrees (over 10%) were the biggest except for the tourism-related degrees. Based on these results, it can be partly explained why the tourism research papers in Korea tends to be written from the business management perspectives. Lastly, the implications and limitations of the study are presented based on the research findings." @default.
