Between 900 and 1000 °C, and for weight increases < 0.5 mg/ cm², the oxidation is parabolic forming chromia layers. The components nickel and molybdenum do not oxidize. The apparent activation energy is 310 ± 18 kJ / mol. Unlike what is usually admitted for the oxidation of chromia-forming alloys, the chromia layer does not protect the alloy, the limiting step of the oxidation being the outwards diffusion of chromium inside the alloy, not inside the oxide layer." @default.
