In this context, satellite images are an effective tool to describe land use over large areas and to map and characterize land use on a regional scale. The objective of the present study was to analyse the land uses and their environmental implications in the Lower Chubut River Basin (CIRCh) in order to obtain a territorial diagnosis that contributes to future integrated resource management. For this, a map of seven land use classes was developed from the supervised classification (Landsat 8, OLI sensor, 2020). The results obtained indicate that of the total surface of the CIRCh (571,230.09 hectares), 76.80% corresponds to the monte class, 12.98% to rocky outcrops, 6.06% to natural terrain, 2.62% is used by cultivated areas, 1.10% by urban áreas, 0.37% corresponds to water bodies and 0.007% to coasts. Further action should focus on promoting basin-scale studies and strengthening integrated water management. La cuenca es reconocida como la unidad territorial más adecuada para la gestión integrada de los recursos hídricos. Sin embargo, debido a su complejidad, muchos de los abordajes no logran considerar las interrelaciones que ocurren en la totalidad del sistema. En este contexto, las imágenes satelitales resultan herramientas efectivas para describir el uso del suelo en grandes extensiones, y mapear y caracterizar a escala regional. El objetivo del presente estudio fue analizar los usos del suelo e implicancias ambientales en la Cuenca Inferior del Río Chubut (CIRCh) con la finalidad de obtener un diagnóstico territorial que contribuya a una futura gestión integrada de los recursos. Se desarrolló un mapa de siete clases de uso del suelo a partir de la clasificación supervisada, (imagen Landsat 8, sensor OLI, año 2020). Los resultados indican que del total de la superficie de la CIRCh (571.230,09 hectáreas), 76,80% corresponde al monte, el 12,98% a los afloramientos rocosos, el 6,06% al terreno natural, un 2,62% a áreas cultivadas, 1,10% a áreas urbanas, 0,37% corresponde a cuerpos de agua y 0,007% a costas. Las acciones a seguir deberían estar enfocadas en fomentar los estudios a escala cuenca y fortalecer la gestión integrada del agua." @default.
