- W4327701560 abstract "Laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) is a rapid technique for elemental analysis with very little and no sample preparation. The LIBS signal can be enhanced using various methods like double-pulse LIBS, by controlling the atmosphere surrounding the plasma plumes, by spatial constraint method, magnetic constraint method, chemical replacement methods, and one among them is nanoparticle-enhanced LIBS (NE-LIBS). This chapter focuses on several applications of the NE-LIBS with emphasis on sensing. The first review on the NE-LIBS visualized the field enhancement near NPs and the change in the field with the distance between the NPs and their size. It also discussed the problem of the coffee ring effect and the need to optimize the NPs size and distribution. The experimental setup used for NE-LIBS is similar to that of LIBS but sample preparation is required." @default.
