- W4327717825 abstract "Odontogenic myxoma (OM) is a rare benign tumor of the jaw. It represents approximately 3 to 6% of all odontogenic tumors. It is found in patients aged between 10 and 50 years, with a median of 25 to 35 years and a slight female predominance. From a clinical point of view, the evolution of odontogenic myxomas is silent and painless, yet aggressive. The Histogenesis of OM is still controversial, but it can be done from the desmondonte, the dental papilla, or the dental follicle. Surgery is the most effective approach to treat odontogenic myxomas, it can be a simple conservative treatment with enucleation and curettage for small tumors or a radical treatment consisting of an exeresis with safety margins in case of a lesion with aggressive behavior. Compound odontomas are mixed epithelial-mesenchymal benign odontogenic tumors made up of numerous rudimentary teeth of very small size, grouped inside a conjunctive wall identical to that of the normal dental follicle. In the following the authors present and discuss the management of the first clinical case where an odontogenic myxoma related to an impacted tooth was developed near a compound odontoma, located in the mandibular anterior arch in a 16-year-old child." @default.
