- W4327808520 abstract "We reported for the first time the existence of interference-like patterns produced from the extraction of carbon nanodots (C-Dots) and biologically active compounds (BACs) of brewed tea. This study was aimed i) to observe the existence of interference-like patterns from the extraction of BACs and C-Dots samples over certain time duration, and ii) to determine and compare the distance between two slits that produces the interference-like patterns. The samples used in this study were C-Dots from brewed tea wastes, BACs solution, and distilled water (as the control sample). The experiment was started by preparing the C-Dots from brewed tea wastes using simple carbonization method using an oven. The C-dots were obtained by extraction of the carbonized brewed tea powder in distilled water. The BACs solution was obtained by extraction of the brewed tea powder (without carbonization) in distilled water. The masses of the powder used for the extraction process were 0.5 gr and 0.1 gr. This extraction process was conducted for 14 days. All samples were photographed using a smartphone every day for 14 days. The photographs of each sample were then stacked as function of time. The interference-like patterns were proposed to correspond to the double slit experiment, so that the distance between the two slits can be calculated. The results indicate that the stacking of the photographs as function of time show interference-like patterns in the form of alternating bright and darker areas. Moreover, photons go through empty spaces of the randomly arranged C-Dots and BACs particles in the samples. These empty spaces act as slits producing the interference-like patterns detected by the smartphone. Hence, the distance between the slits may provide information concerning the constituents of the samples. This is indicated by the value of the slits’ distance of C-Dots, which was smaller than the BACs under ultraviolet laser." @default.
