- W4328022729 abstract "The biological controlbiological control of plant pathogens is an environmentally friendly and low-cost method of managing plant pathogens. To extend the survivability of the biocontrol agentsbiocontrol agentsBCAs (BCAsBCAs) in the environment, they can be immobilized into protective polymeric carriers using the encapsulationencapsulation method. Additives such as chitosan, clay materials, osmoprotectantsosmoprotectants, proteins, or carbon sources can be added to the polymer matrixpolymer matrix to improve the viability of BCAs and impart slow-releasing properties of the formulation. Compared to the conventional dry and liquid formulationliquid formulation, encapsulated microbial cells are better protected from abiotic and biotic stresses. This chapter sought to provide an overview of the technologies available and current progress in the encapsulation of BCAs in plant disease management. Potential challenges and future research directions in encapsulation technology will also be discussed in detail." @default.
