- W4328027073 abstract "6G-based millimeter Waves (mmWave) communication can provide high data rates, minimize the latency for vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communications to share information among vehicles. The dynamic vehicle traffic causes frequent initial beam alignment, which tends to bring significant overhead. In this paper we propose a double-layer initial beam alignment scheme leveraging sub-6 GHz spatial information to reduce the overhead. Adopting the idea of hierarchical search, the first layer includes sector beams, and the second layer includes fine beams. In the first stage, the proposed method uses the optimal beam selection strategy to find the sector beams that are most likely to contain the best beam by minimizing the Cramer-Rao lower bound (CRLB) of channel spatial angle parameters estimation. The angle prior information is provided by the sub-6GHz channel. And then choose the best sector beam with the maximum received power. In the second stage, we design the greedy and sparse recovery algorithm using sub-6G Hz information as weights to find the best fine beam and perform channel estimation. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme can significantly reduce the overhead and improve effective rate and the success percentage of alignment increases by 84%.
