We describe the environment of the Solar System during the past $$approx 10$$ <mml:math xmlns:mml=http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML> <mml:mrow> <mml:mo>≈</mml:mo> <mml:mn>10</mml:mn> </mml:mrow> </mml:math> Myr as well as the likely locations where the supernovae occured. Confirming evidence has been found in the composition and energy distribution of galactic cosmic rays.
