- W4360604349 abstract "Biochar recovery from invasive species offers a promising way to combat climate change and soil degradation. Prosopis Juliflora is an invasive species and covers a wide range of areas in Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Haryana. In the presented study biochar recovered from pyrolysis of Prosopis Juliflora (BCPJ) has been characterized for soil conditioning and solid fuel application. The FTIR analysis shows the majority presence of the nitro groups in biochar samples such as the Imine group (C = N), Isothiocyanate groups, secondary amines, and other aromatic nitro groups which offer better nitrogen availability in a soil application. The results from the elemental analysis showed an increment in carbon content to 72%. From FESEM results presence of cations such as Ca, Na, K, and Mg have been observed indicating availability of useful macronutrients for soil application. Also, biochar shows a fair calorific value of 24 MJ/Kg for a solid fuel proposition. The studied sample has a half-life expectancy of 100 to 1000 years for soil application based on the O/C and H/C ratios. It has been observed that biochar recovered from Prosopis Juliflora showed a permanence factor of 0.98 for a 100-year period with H/Corg ratio of 0.3. It is worked out that on the application of 15,000 Mg of biochar on 1000 ha of agriculture land a net GHG emission of 39382.15 Mg CO2e can be avoided." @default.
