Autonomous robots must be able to make explicit decisions in order to properly execute their given tasks across various open situations in the face of uncontrolled interactions with external factors. The goal of implementing deliberative actions is thus to give robotic systems more reliable, adaptable, and comprehensive functionality. This article aims to develop a broad overview of the current deliberative tasks carried out by robots, including goal-based goal reasoning, planning, acting, monitoring, and observing, with the main focuses of the survey being the planning, acting, and integrating processes involved in these.
