- W4361763985 abstract "In order to study the vacuum breakdown characteristics of metal electrodes under microsecond pulses, this paper first uses electromagnetic simulation software to simulate the electrostatic field, and then explores the breakdown characteristics in microsecond pulse of two-electrode switch in the range of 10–3–101 Pa pressure. By putting flashover medium in a pair of stainless steel electrode, in the range of 9.0 × 10–3–1.0 × 10–2 Pa pressure, the vacuum surface flashover breakdown experiment is carried out. The effect of air pressure on the vacuum breakdown voltage and the flashover breakdown characteristics of different dielectrics were preliminarily studied by experimental means. The experimental results show that the breakdown field strength increases rapidly with the continuous decrease of the vacuum, the rising slope first increases and then decreases, and the breakdown field strength tends to be stable, which is in line with the law of vacuum breakdown. With the increase of the dielectric length, the breakdown voltage increases. The flashover breakdown voltage of quartz dielectric is higher than that of Al2O3 ceramic, polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) and polyethylene.
