- W4362503498 abstract "The influence of digitalization in the maritime transport industry and related port infrastructure is unfolding at a pace faster than anticipated, improving operational efficiency, productivity, and sustainability. Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT) systems holding a pivotal role in this digital era; along with human factors, are critical for safe and secure operations in ports. Inevitably, in digital integration, the security of cyber physical systems should be re-evaluated, focusing on policies and action plans for business continuity. As technological tools and applications evolve, so are the threats and risks associated with them. IT/OT systems in the maritime transportation and port infrastructure sectors face today greater security challenges than ever before. The associated cyber security risks, threats, and vulnerabilities are discussed in this chapter, highlighting the progression and exploitation of cyber physical systems in the maritime transportation and port infrastructure sectors. Applicable industry and government standards/policies associated with cybersecurity are presented, illustrating the current framework of regulatory compliance. Relevant cyber and physical security assessment methods such as the API Security Risk Assessment (SRA), Bow Tie Analysis (BTA), Cyber-PHA (Process Hazard Analysis), and MITRE ATT&CK Threat Model are also discussed, emphasizing the potential of using already available tools stemming from outside the maritime transportation and port infrastructure sectors. The use of BTA for a security compromise incident against a port access security system is also presented to illustrate the proactive and reactive mitigation of breach incidents. Finally, suggestions for the improvement of cyber resilience in maritime transportation and port infrastructure are provided. Increasing stakeholders’ cyber-awareness, re-evaluating physical security of IT/OT assets, implementing business continuity plans, and ensuring the convergence of cyber physical security elements are key priorities." @default.
