There are so many research done on various aspects of its design, construction and application. The study helps the reader to understand the basic classifications of robot and also its attribute value such as payload, weight, materials used and materials on which its applied for. In this paper, an exhaustive survey is done on the adhesive mechanism like magnetic adhesive, vacuum or suction adhesive and fusion type adhesive mechanism of existing wall climbing robots whichever is suitable for Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) by considering the two main designs attributes like payload & weight. The study also portraits the build in material of adhesive mechanism along with the details of wall materials on which the robot is applied for. It is understood that the weight of the testing equipment weighs approximately 1.5 kg and henceforth the robot designed should have payload greater than 1.5 kg, the Wall Climbing Robot with payload more than 2 kg is considered as ↑ and less than that is denoted as ↓. The P/W ratio ranging between 1 to 5 is denoted as ‘+’ and 5 to 10 denoted as ‘++’ and beyond 10 its highly recommended for more payload and is denoted as ‘+++’. Similarly P/W ranging 0 is denoted as ‘−’ and ‘− −’ for 0.1 and so on, more focus is given on high payload (P) to weight(W) ratio, materials used and materials on which it applied for.
