- W4365909 abstract "The acuteness of modern water-supply problems along with the need to improve the quality of the washing of articles urgently call for the most efficient utilization of water in washing as is possible. One source of removable contamination in a washing unit is the stagnant film of liquid of fairly stable thickness (the hydraulic loss, which is located on the surface and in the pores of the articles being washed and frequently has a considerable total volume. The object of this treatment is a functioning cascade of consecutively arranged mass-transfer (washing) units for the washing of articles coated with a surface layer of liquid containing a chemical or mechanical impurity which is subject to removal. The data from the experimental investigations (the material being washed was coarse-grained quartz sand, the liquid of the surface film was a solution of sodium sulfate) are consistent with the theoretical results obtained with accuracy to the experimental errors." @default.
