- W4366127405 abstract "History of human progress can be well understood by ancient civilizations. In ancient Egypt, the pyramids were designed and built according to the greatest constant 3.14 or π this constant could be considered the crown of Egyptian geometrical achievements, no equation up till now in space area, in atomic age, in wireless communication could be correct without it. This constant is used in the relation of a circle in geometry. Also in Egypt the other disciplines like astronomy, medicine, chemistry, poetry, etc. flourished. On the right hand of this main centre on the civilization curve, we had Iran that gave man the mortal attractive story of thousand nights and some share in mathematics and poetry. Now our curve goes through north India not through its south, according to Gustavo Lo Bon in his book about the civilization in India there were no literary effects in north India, and the stony buildings found there do not exceed the fifth century A.D. In China where our curve goes through its south part in ancient times, according to Ralf Linton, the north part of China knew civilization after the south one by about 1500 years, where the age of civilization in China extends to the third thousand B.C. With increasing pollution and changing climate United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) suggested that 17 goals and SDG 11th goal are devoted to sustainable cities and human settlements. The paper discusses concept of sustainable development and smart cities. Major problems of waste management and smooth traffic movement are faced by citizens. Eco-friendly housing with use of clean and green energy is explained giving examples of steps taken in certain important cities like Vadodara, Copenhagen, Singapore, London, Portland, Yokohama, and Marrakesch. Digitally managed expo of Dubai and Technologies needed to make cities more liveable and changes to be made in lifestyle which can reduce the need of resources as well as methodologies to recycle the municipal waste are suggested. New cities have to be better planned and should be well managed to meet the demands of citizens and add to the safety, security, and economy of nations." @default.
