- W4366128175 abstract "Flow resistance inside a helium compressor flow line have been numerically investigated. The fluid flow resisting element is essential to drop the pressure to the initial condition within a helium compressor flow line. Though there are existing devices which perform the job, a porous medium is considered for its compactness. Single phase computational fluid dynamics (CFD) calculations, using the Eulerian model have been applied to calculate the pressure drop through the porous medium. Two types of fluids and two types of porous media have been considered for the investigation and the results have been validated against Ergun equation which is solved analytically. It is observed that packed sintered balls are much more effective than the wired mesh in some aspects while both of them are reasonably good over a range of pressure drop. The mass flow rates of the fluids are kept constant keeping in consideration of the helium compressor operating range." @default.
