- W4366177580 abstract "Background; There is still controversy as to whether atopic dermatitis (AD) is susceptible to allergic contact dermatitis (ACD). There is no report from Japan on allergens in which patients with AD are prone to ACD. Objectives; The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between Japanese AD patients and ACD by comparing the positive rates of various antigens with and without a history of AD using our patch test data. Materials/Methods; This is a single-center study of Toho university hospital, Tokyo, Japan. From January 1, 2016, to December 31, 2020, all patients who visited our department and who were suspected of having ACD and underwent a patch test were included. This is a cross-sectional study. We took informed consent by the opt-out method. The patch test antigens differ for each patient. Twenty-four types of antigens from the Japanese Baseline Series were applied to the back of all patients, and on Day 2(48 hours) the patches were removed. On Day 3(72 hours) + or higher was judged positive based on the International Contact Dermatitis Research Group ( ICDRG) criteria. For the analysis, we used STATA statistical software and performed multivariate analysis using logistic regression analysis. Results; The final analysis subjects were eight hundred fifty-nine. Two hundred fifty-one patients with a history of AD (AD group) and six hundred and eight patients without an AD history (non-AD group). In the AD group, the positive rate of nickel sulfate was statistically significantly lower than non-AD group. The positive rate of carba mix, was statistically significantly higher in AD group. Conclusions; Nickel allergy was also rare in Japanese patients with AD, supporting overseas reports. Repeated exposure and prolonged usage of carba mix in AD patients can result in sensitization. Patients with AD may be advised to wear carba mix-free gloves to prevent ACD." @default.
