- W4366178081 abstract "The prognostic role of clinicopathological parameters in cutaneous angiosarcoma (CAS) has not been fully understood due to the rarity of the disease. We retrospectively reviewed a total of 53 patients in the Department of Dermatology at Kyoto University. Patient characteristics were recorded, including age, sex, smoking status, alcohol consumption status, primary site of CAS (head/neck vs. others), clinical manifestation of CAS (nodular or patchy only vs. nodular and patchy), tumor area (≥ or <25cm2), lymph node or distant metastasis at diagnosis, history of surgical treatments (ST), chemotherapy, or radiotherapy, respectively. Moreover, considering BMI reflects the weight of muscle, and subcutaneous or visceral adipose tissue (SAT or VAT), we calculated psoas muscle, SAT, and VAT indices (cm2/m2) by dividing each area at L3/4 levels by height2using the computed tomography images at diagnosis. Univariate analysis on overall survival (OS) revealed female (hazard ratio (HR)=0.499, p=0.020), higher body mass index (BMI, HR=0.479, p=0.011), never consumption of alcohol (HR=0.435, p=0.005), clinical manifestation (nodular or patchy only) (HR=0.397, p=0.005), and ST (HR=0.489, p=0.013) were significantly associated. Moreover, a higher SAT index was also significantly associated with longer OS (HR=0.417, p=0.012). However, VAT or psoas muscle indices had no correlation with OS. The multivariate Cox regression analysis showed that increased SAT (HR=0.280, p=0.003), female (HR=0.298, p=0.007), and ST (HR=0.278, p=0.008) were independent prognostic factors on OS. Additionally, we found CD8+ T cell infiltration in tumors positively correlated with SAT index (r=0.604, p=0.019) whereas sex, ST, VAT, or psoas muscle indices were not associated. In conclusion, clinicopathological features such as sex, alcohol consumption, BMI, SAT, clinical manifestation, and ST could be potential prognostic factors in CAS. Further studies are warranted to validate each parameter in other cohorts and mechanistic association with tumor cell viability or tumor microenvironments in CAS." @default.
