- W4366496744 abstract "Glutathione (GSH), as an endogenous antioxidant, plays a crucial role in the cellular transmission and redox state regulation. The abnormal levels of GSH have been confirmed to be linked with various clinical diseases. Herein, by virtue of the oxidase-mimicking activity of cobalt oxyhydroxide (CoOOH) nanoflakes, we for the first time discovered that CoOOH nanoflakes could directly catalyze the oxidation of thiamine into highly fluorescent thiochrome in acidic condition without additional oxidizing agents. When GSH was introduced, the CoOOH nanoflakes would be efficiently reduced into Co2+, resulting in the decrease of fluorescent intensity. Based on the above mechanism, we developed a fast, facile, low-cost, and environmental-friendly fluorescent probe for rapid and sensitive detection of GSH. Under the optimal conditions, the fluorescent bioassay performed a wide linear range of 0.5–100 μM and high sensitivity for GSH with the limit of detection (LOD) as low as 0.12 μM. Meanwhile, such a convenient and efficient biosensor also demonstrated satisfactory applicability in human whole blood samples. Moreover, our report may provide an avenue to expand the application of CoOOH-thiamine fluorescent probe to other biosensing systems." @default.
