- W4366504086 abstract "This study investigates the relationship between master production scheduling and blood transfusion sustainability of blood banks in Uganda. The elements of master production scheduling included supply, demand and perishability. The purpose of the study was to investigate relationship of master production scheduling on blood transfusion sustainability of blood banks in Uganda with three objectives. First, to determine the relationship between supply element and blood transfusion sustainability. Second, to determine the relationship of demand element and blood transfusion sustainability. Finally to determine the relationship of perishability element and blood transfusion sustainability. This paper presents an alternative methodology to investigate the relationship of master production scheduling on blood transfusion sustainability of blood banks in Uganda. Data was collected using a self-administered questionnaire survey from a random sample of 213 respondents. Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS version 20) and analysis of moment of structures (AMOS version 23) were used for data analysis. The results of the study revealed that there is a significant positive relationship between master production scheduling and blood transfusion sustainability of blood banks in Uganda with the prediction rate of 0.173 with 95% confidence level. Supply and demand elements are found to be significant predictors of blood transfusion sustainability. Blood transfusion sustainability did not appear to be significantly affected by perishability element. Master production scheduling has a positive significant relationship with blood transfusion sustainability in Uganda, leading to timely delivery of blood products to healthcare facilities. Master production scheduling is recommended in order to save lives of patients in need of blood." @default.
