We employ the Spec2Vec algorithm to transform the original mass spectral space into a low-dimensional dense embedding space to overcome the challenge of processing sparse mass spectra. To validate the effectiveness of the Spec2Vec space, we extend the focus of mass spectrometry studies beyond library retrieval by exploring two downstream tasks: molecular fingerprint prediction and cooperation with Neural Electron–Ionization Mass Spectrometry (NEIMS). Compared to the sparse mass spectral space, the Spec2Vec space can significantly improve identification performance, reduce time cost, and save computational resources. This study may inspire more research tasks in the embedding space for mass spectrometry." @default.
