- W4367187104 abstract "In this study, novel frozen materials based on amino acids were produced using glycine and deionised water as raw materials to transport frozen meals. With the addition of NaCl, it primarily lowers the melting temperature of the phase change material (PCM). The thermal properties of PCM are examined, and the results demonstrate that the produced materials have good chemical compatibility and superior thermal properties. The temperature range of composite PCM is broad, and the cold storage density is high. Test results showed that the energy storage density was 339.15 J/g and the thermal conductivity was 0.50 W/(m·K). Meanwhile, it showed supercooling phenomenon. After a short cycle, the energy storage density was reduced to 329.04 J/g, and the thermal conductivity was reduced by 0.08 W/(m·K). Moreover, the actual cooling and food storage performance trial demonstrated that it has the potential to be a viable energy storage material in short-distance cold chain transportation. PCMs outperform ice in terms of thermal properties. PCM has a maintenance period of 65 h at temperatures ranging from −5 to 10 °C, which is 44 h longer than that of ice. PCM’s maintenance period in the same temperature range was 6.5 h when packed with sweet dumplings, 2.7 h longer than ice.
