- W4367728995 abstract "The Cuddalore is one of the important developed coastal distinct of Tamil Nadu, and which is well known by the biggest natural reservoir veeranam. But nowadays whose identity is vanished due to developmental activities and lack of conservation of water. Hydrogeochemical signatures of groundwater in the Cuddalore district, were determined. Groundwater samples from 24 locations were collected and analysed for physical parameters, such as electrical conductivity (EC), major ion concentrations, such as Chloride (Cl), Calcium (Ca), Magnesium (Mg), Sodium (Na), Potassium (K), Sulphate (SO4), Bicarbonate (HCO3). The chemical analysis results shows, among the cations sodium is the dominating ion, followed by calcium, magnesium and potassium in Pre-monsoon and Calcium is dominating followed by magnesium, sodium and potassium in Post-monsoon. Classification of water: major type of water observed as Calcium-Chloride type and Calcium-Magnesium-Chloride type were found in in Monsoon and Post-monsoon. Among the anions chloride is the dominant ion followed by bicarbonate and sulphate all the seasons. The results were analysed spatially and temporally. The water quality index reveals that a major part of the study area falls under poor category. Fair to good quality of groundwater prevails in the northwest and southwest part of the study area." @default.
