- W4376605869 abstract "When the birth date is unknown, as it often is with criminal immigrants, age estimate offers useful information. One of the key factors in determining a person’s age is dental identification. In the future, dental implants and natural teeth will be the sole methods of identification. The most popular approach for determining age in people with erupting teeth is Demirjian’s tooth growth method. In order to apply the procedure to a larger age range, a third molar was added to the original Demirjian method’s seven mandibular teeth. Also, the more recent approach created regression algorithms for determining age. This cross-sectional study’s goal was to determine an individual’s age using the Demirjian eight-tooth approach, taking into account the left and right correlation of the mandibular third molar. Materials and procedures In the current study, 100 randomly chosen participants—50 men and 50 women—with ages ranging from 10 to 20 years were separated into 10 age groups. The staging of teeth was done using Demirjian’s 8 tooth approach. The chi square analysis was used to correlate the data.The findings revealed a statistically insignificant connection between actual age and staging for men aged 38 and 48, with p values of 0.41 ¿ 0.05 and 0.31 ¿ 0.05, respectively. The relationship between staging of 38 and 48 in females and actual age had p values of 0.45¿ 0.05 and 0.65¿ 0.05, respectively, which were not statistically significant. According to the results of this investigation, there is no relationship between real age and Demirjian method stagings of 38 and 48 in either males or females. Moreover, regression models and maturity ratings improve age prediction." @default.
