- W4377013350 abstract "PURPOSE: Alopecia (hair loss) can have important psychological implications, and it has been discovered that reducing hair loss improves views of age, beauty, success, and adaptability. Numerous variables, including immunologic, genetic, dietary, physiological, age, and environmental, can contribute to hair loss. To cure hair loss, a number of therapeutic techniques can be utilized, such as prp, low-level laser light treatment, intralesional corticosteroid, and three FDA-approved drugs: JAK inhibitors, topical minoxidil, and oral finasteride. In this review, the goal was to determine the clinical effectiveness and safety of autologous activated PRP (A-PRP) injections in individuals with alopecia METHODS: We searched PubMed, EMBASE, COCHRANE DATABASE, and Google Scholar for relevant articles. We included all primary clinical studies involving adult patients (over the age of 18) that evaluated activated platelet rich plasma alone, in combination with other procedures, or compared it with other procedures.A total of 29 human clinical studies were found that matched all outlined criteria and that examined A-PRP as a therapeutic method for alopecia (hair loss). RESULTS: 864 patients in total were examined. Each study looked at the effectiveness of A-PRP, which is frequently used with calcium chloride and calcium gluconate. Patients had A-PRP injections more than once in the majority of the research we looked at; in 24 studies, patients received 3-6 injections. Each patient underwent three treatments on average during the trial period, with each one being administered at intervals of one month. Positive results were reported by 27 studies. Eleven studies looked into the effect of A-PRP on hair folliclegenesis. Ten articles discussed the difference in hair density before and after treatment. These articles were included in the pooled analysis, which shows a significant difference in the number of hairs per cm2 between baseline and subsequent measurements that followed (n = 184, MD = 46.5, I2 = 88%, 95% CL 29.63-63.37, P.00001,). The pooled analysis of three studies revealed a difference in the number of terminal hairs per cm2 between the experimental and control groups that was statistically significant (n = 55, MD = 26.03, I2 = 25%, 95% CI 8.08-43.98, P = 0.004). CONCLUSION: This is the first systematic review and meta-analysis of activated PRP (A-PRP) use as a treatment option for alopecia. Of the 29 studies reviewed, 27 indicated that A-PRP is significantly effective in treating alopecia, especially for improving hair density, promoting hair re-growth, folliculogenesis, reducing hair loss, and initiating the hair cycle." @default.
