Latent class growth analysis (LCGA) revealed four distinct trajectories of emotional problems: an increase after the onset of COVID-19 (Mean increasing), a decrease (Mean decreasing), no change at low level (Low stable) or at high level (Chronic high), each after a stable trajectory before the pandemic.Multinomial logistic regressions showed that females and youth experiencing an increase in financial deprivation were at higher risk of increasing or chronically high level of emotional problems, while sociability proved protective. Migration background and rejection by peers showed mixed effects. The results emphasize the importance of a differential perspective on how the COVID-19-pandemic affected children's and adolescents' well-being. Besides negative consequences for vulnerable groups, also beneficial aspects of the pandemic should be considered.Zusammenfassung Die COVID-19-Pandemie zeigte weitgehend negative aber heterogene Auswirkungen auf das psychischeWohlbefinden von Kindern und Jugendlichen. Die vorliegende Studie untersucht (1) differenzielle Veränderungsmuster emotionaler Probleme von Kindern und Jugendlichen bei Pandemiebeginn, (2) präpandemische Trends im Vergleich zu Veränderungen nach Pandemiebeginn und (3) Effekte soziodemografischer und sozialer Faktoren. 555 Kinder und Jugendliche im Alter von 7-14 Jahren (M = 10.53 Jahre, 46.5 % weiblich) nahmen an drei Erhebungswellen des deutschen Familienpanels pairfam teil. Eine latente Wachstumsklassenanalyse (LCGA) erbrachte vier distinkte Veränderungsgruppen: Die Kinder und Jugendlichen zeigten nach einem relativ stabilen Verlauf vor Beginn der Corona-Pandemie entweder eine Zunahme („Mittel ansteigend“), eine Abnahme („Mittel absteigend“) oder keine Veränderung ihrer emotionalen Probleme auf hohem Niveau („Chronisch hoch“) oder auf niedrigem Niveau („Niedrig stabil“).Multinomiale logistische Regressionen erbrachten ein erhöhtes Risiko für eine Zunahme oder chronisch hohes Niveau emotionaler Probleme fürMädchen und bei einem Anstieg finanzieller Deprivation, während sich Geselligkeit als Protektionsfaktor erwies. Gemischte Effekte fanden sich für Migrationshintergrund und Ablehnung durch Peers.
