- W4378695220 abstract "Dye effluents from various industries, particularly the textile industry, are hazardous to the environment and can cause significant damage. As a result, treating and detoxifying these hazardous dyes is critical for meeting environmental regulations. Several physicochemical dye-removal methods have been proposed so far. A few studies have been published that compare the ability of yeasts to decolorize azo dyes to that of bacterial and fungal species. This chapter discusses the negative effects of synthetic dyes as well as the enzymatic biodegradation mechanisms used in synthetic dye bioremediation processes for biofuel and bioproduct production. The effect of various physicochemical parameters on yeast cell decolorization performance is also discussed, as are the analytical techniques used to identify dye biodegradation intermediates, their toxicity, and the molecular aspects of dye degradation by yeasts. This research could pave the way for the development of dye bioremediation technologies using yeast cells." @default.
