- W4381683148 abstract "Purpose: The Quadriceps angle is considered clinically as a very important parameter which displays the biomedical effect of the Quadriceps muscle on the knees and it is also a crucial factor for the proper posture and movement of the knee. Normal value of the Quadriceps angle is 13 to 18 degree. This angle is important parameter to assess many knee related problems. Muscle strength is an important indicator of muscle performance. Quadriceps muscle is essential for daily activities. So, association of these two with different anthropometric measurements will give the information on biomechanical function and effects of the Quadriceps mechanism on the knee. Purpose of the study was to determine the relationship between Quadriceps angle, anthropometric measurements (body mass index, waist-hip ratio, intercondylar distance of femur) and Quadriceps muscle strength. Participants: It was an observational study and healthy young adults were taken. Total 150 participants were selected between 18 to 30 years of age, both male and female were selected who willing to participate. Subjects with traumatic history, injury, surgical history, pathological conditions, neurological disorders and muscle weakness in lower limb were excluded. Methods: Measurements of Quadriceps angle, Quadriceps muscle strength and anthropometric measurements which include body mass index, waist hip ratio and intercondylar distance of femur were measured bilaterally and calculated. Analysis: Data was entered in excel sheet and analyzed in SPSS softwareResults: Result showed the inverse relation between Quadriceps angle, Quadriceps muscle strength and intercondylar distance of femur. Also, there was proportional relation between Quadriceps angle and body mass indexConclusion: The study reflected the effect of Quadriceps mechanism of the knee. Quadriceps angle measurement gave useful information concerning the alignment of the pelvis, leg and foot. Implications: This study is important to asses the knee joint functions and with help of these measurements, clinically we can find out knee related problems due to misalignment." @default.
