- W4382023982 abstract "The study of the mechanisms of preservation of ethnic identity is relevant today for any ethnic group, because modern advanced digital technologies make it possible to create communicative connections between carriers of different cultures without crossing state codons. This creates the basis for transformational processes that threaten the preservation of ethnic identity. Jews are perhaps the most experienced ethnic group in preserving and strengthening national self-consciousness. By identifying the so-called markers of Jewish national expression, we have the opportunity to trace the dynamics of national consciousness. The components that shape and maintain the ethnic identity of Jews can be traced in various sources, including memories that are increasingly appearing on Internet resources. Our attention was drawn to an interview with Slaveiska Yulia Omelyanivna, born in 1925, and Mosendz Akulina Oleksiivna, born in 1929, who were born and raised in Rashkiv, Republic of Moldova. Their recollections of the Second World War provide an opportunity to analyze the processes associated with the metamorphoses that took place in Jewish identity. Analysis of the text of the memoirs shows the cultural influences of the neighborhood of Jews with Ukrainians and Moldovans – this confirms the use of respondents during the conversation a large number of Ukrainian words, which indirectly indicate the assimilation process, marriages with other religions and nationalities (Russians, Moldovans, Ukrainians). (Armor Samoilovna ... was published in Russian). These episodes from the memoirs show us some features of the dynamics of Jewish identity on the narrow local example of one of the Transnistrian towns of Rashkiv in the period 1941–1944." @default.
