Numerous studies have—— been conducted on the optimization of heat exchange networks, among which the Pinch Analysis— has been widely applied due to its convenient visualization characteristics. The Pinch method used a cold and hot composite curve during the optimization process, resulting in unclear heat transfer results and an inability to determine specific heat transfer logistics information. This article proposes an optimization method, which includes a Temperature Zone Diagram (TZDM), and a mathematical programming model. Based on the principle of heat exchange between adjacent cold and hot streams in the temperature zone, the optimization results are presented through solving a mathematical programming model. In addition, based on the temperature zone corresponding to the streams, an energy representation method of the stream temperature-energy diagram (STED) has been established. Example — shows that the optimized heat transfer recovery of this method is 1.12 MJ, which is 10.42 % higher than the traditional Pinch Analysis-based approach—.
