The polarization curves indicated that HOBT behaved as a mixed-type inhibitor while the Nyquist plots revealed that the corrosion was a charge transfer controlled process. Moreover, the absorption of HOBT was found to obey the Langmuir adsorption isotherm. The free energy of adsorption (A G ads) was found to be -30.54 kJ mol-1 and this value indicated that the adsorption was mainly chemisorption. The reactive ability, as well as the gas-phase adsorption of standalone HOBT molecule on perfect Fe(110) surface has been studied and characterized by means of density functional theory calculations." @default.
