- W4382564950 abstract "The soybean (Glycine max) is a major legume crop for meeting the nutritional needs of both humans and animals. However, several diseases disturb soybeans and affect their productivity globally. Soybean mosaic is a major viral disease incited by the infection of the soybean mosaic virus (SMV). The virus is transmitted by aphids and affects the flourishing soybean production worldwide. Although researchers have developed cultivars resistant to SMV, it is still a significant threat to soybean productivity because the virus continuously evolves. Researchers were able to screen soybean cultivars and trace resistance genes that might be utilized to generate resistant genotypes to deal with SMV infection thanks to advancements in marker-assisted breeding (MAB). So far, many genes accounting for resistance to SMV have been identified across the soybean genome and pyramided into different genetic backgrounds. In this chapter, we discussed the current knowledge about MAB for SMV resistance in soybeans." @default.
