- W4382702010 abstract "With the electrification of the vehicle fleet, the world is taking a step toward a greener and sustainable future. India is also running various campaign and forming policies for increasing electric vehicle (EV) adoption rates. According to its EV 30@30 campaign, it aims to achieve 29% of its on road fleet electric, excluding the two-wheelers. But despite all this, its current market fleet is less than 1%. In this study, we investigate how the perception of potential users about the newly introduced technology has a major role to play in its degree of adoption. And how the perceived relative advantage of the previously available technology also tends to hinder the adoption of the former. A logistic regression model is built to measure the adoption intention of potential users. A total sample size of 230 people is collected through semi-structured interviews. Out of which, 209 are used for further analysis after cleaning the data. The data set is firstly trained and then tested. Further, the model’s accuracy is checked by forming a confusion matrix and ROC fitting, with Area under the curve (AUC) at 0.95. The study inferred that higher upfront costs, lower range and concerns related to maintenance and efficiency were found to be the significant barriers to EV adoption. However, the results also suggested that many respondents lack sufficient knowledge of EV advancements in the EV sector. Promoting EV policies and incentives along with people awareness programs could ensure huge scope for the Indian EV market." @default.
