- W4383337209 abstract "This paper proposes a modified predictive PID controller for dynamic positioning (DP) vessels. The combination of PID and motion prediction techniques remains the simple structure and improves the performance of DP system in station keeping. The phase of the proportional force produced by controller is advanced to compensate the slowly-varying force. Several short-term motion prediction techniques are compared and the autoregressive model is the most appropriate one for the proposed control scheme. The influence of the prediction length and environmental condition are investigated. Simulation results of proposed controller are compared with those of the PID controller and the PID with acceleration feedback (AFB). The comparisons suggest that the proposed controller is an attractive alternative to PID with AFB when the acceleration cannot be accurately measured." @default.
