- W4383426525 abstract "In the 20th century, we experienced the most dreadful infected diseases in the history of humanity that is induced by fungi, viruses, other microorganisms, and bacteria. Pathogens may enter the bone from nearby muscles or skin or another part of the body through the bloodstream and cause pain in the infected area with swelling, warmth, tenderness, redness, fatigue, chills, fever, and irritability. People with diseases like hemodialysis, diabetes, sickle cell disease, peripheral arterial disease, fracture, injury, or surgery are more prone to bone infection. Although a diversity of medicines comprising chemicals and antibiotics were introduced about a 100 years ago, various confrontations are still menacing human health. This comeback primarily attributes the resistance displayed by the bacterium to effective antimicrobial drugs that are presently employed. The scientific community has taken decisive action to mitigate the spread of the bacteria/virus and limit the adverse impacts on human health. They are discovering novel drugs and emerging effective ways of drug delivery. The role of nanotechnology in infection control has demonstrated great concern, particularly with the evolution of nanocarriers as bactericidal nanoparticles and prophylactics delivery. Bioceramics are extensively applied as hard tissue substitutes for bone rehabilitation. Bactericide ceramics have also been prepared by incorporating bactericide ions that have significant potential to overpower antibiotic resistance. However, it has been seen that certain bioceramics deeply interact with human tissue at the molecular level, and their interactions can promote cells to replicate and serve with great potency. Meanwhile, they may increase implant lifetime, enhance performance, or even provide protective benefits. This chapter discusses the antibacterial/antiviral potential of bioceramic nanoparticles, emphasizing combating bone infections." @default.
