- W4383460735 abstract "This chapter aims at highlighting the important and relevant features of frames for signal processing. In this sense, it provides the basic tools and concepts for using frames in signal processing algorithms and applications. It presents formal definitions of overcomplete representations, frames and their duals, frame operators, inverse frames, and frame bounds, with intuitive examples. It also shows how to use these to perform signal analysis and synthesis. On a more practical side, it (i) handles the construction of frames generated from a fixed prototype signal by using translations, modulations, and dilations, (ii) analyzes frames of translates, Gabor frames, and wavelet frames, and (iii) shows that this representation has properties desired in signal transmission, such as resilience to noise and losses. Signal analysis techniques, including the Gaborgram and time-frequency analysis using frames with the matching pursuit algorithm, are also presented." @default.
