While, integration of distributed generation (DG) in the passive distribution system is used to reduce power loss, improve voltage profile, and increase the amount of power supplied. In order to get full benefit, optimal location and DG size are determined. Also, the penetration of DG is limited. This study used the particle swarm optimization (PSO) to determine the optimal location and DG size by considering multi-objective function which consists of active and reactive power loss minimization and voltage profile improvement. Then applied weighted sum method and considering numerous constraints such as bus voltage limit, power balance, total DG size limit and branch current limit for Dilla distribution system as a case study. The penetration of DG is limited up to 60% of the total active load of the feeder. Forward-Backward sweep load flow algorithm was used for the load flow solutions. The result indicates percentage active power loss reduction is 48.59%, 53.604%, 58.32%, and 58.75% and reactive power loss reduction is 48.87%, 53.568%, 58.422%, and 58.84% for case-1, case-2, case-3, and case-4, respectively. The minimum voltage for all cases is within the acceptable limits while in base case (without DG) it is 0.906 p.u., and also, the effect of number of PV-DG without changes penetration and the stochastic nature of PSO algorithm is analyzed with multiple runs of the algorithm." @default.
