- W4383874619 abstract "현대중국어에서 ‘居然’과 ‘竟然’은 ‘뜻밖에, 의외로’의 의미를 가지며 ‘예상치 못함’을 나타내는 의외성 표지이다. 현재 통용되는 사전과 어법 서적에서는 이들을 서로 동일한 것으로 간주하고 있으나 실제 사용상에는 호환이 불가능한 경우가 분명히 존재하므로 담화맥락에 따른 기능적 차이를 분석할 필요가 있다. 따라서 본고는 담화화용적 관점에서 ‘居然’과 ‘竟然’의 의미기능 차이를 분석하여 서로 호환이 불가능한 상황을 구분하고, 통시적 관점에서 의미변천과정을 분석하여 두 부사의 화용적 차이가 발생하게 된 원인을 밝혔다. In modern Chinese, ‘居然’ and ‘竟然’ are defined as having the same meaning of ‘unexpectedly, surprisingly.’ However, there are often cases where they are not interchangeable. Looking at the discourse context, ‘居然’ is used when the speaker has a strong conviction about a certain event and expects to obtain the anticipated result, but unexpectedly, the opposite result occurs. On the other hand, ‘竟然’ is used when the speaker expresses surprise at a result that is contrary to expectations, emphasizing the outcome of the event. Although ‘居然’ and ‘竟然’ belong to the same category of unexpectedness, there exist differences in their discourse usage, which can be explained through the process of semantic evolution. ‘居然’ underwent a semantic transition from ‘安然’ (peaceful, safe) to ‘显然’ (obviously, clearly) and then to ‘果然’ (indeed, really), finally forming the meaning of ‘居然’ (unexpectedly, surprisingly). During this transition, the sense of certainty carried by ‘显然’ and ‘果然’ did not completely disappear but remained to indicate the speakers conviction in the discourse context. On the other hand, ‘竟然’ went through a transition from ‘竟’ (the end of a musical piece) to ‘终了’ (to end, to finish), and then to ‘终于･最终’ (eventually, ultimately), and finally formed the meaning of ‘竟然’ (unexpectedly, surprisingly), emphasizing the conclusion of the event in the discourse context." @default.
