- W4384025562 abstract "To the Editor- The article of Gaur P et al1 highlighted the importance of COVID-19 Vaccination in pregnancy and its protective effects against low birth weight (LBW). Although the authors have included a large sample size and adjusted for LBW confounders and factors influencing the likelihood of receiving the COVID-19 vaccine, the results fail to establish a positive relationship between COVID-19 vaccine and birth weight. It does not separate the pregnant persons who received the vaccine during pregnancy from the ones who were fully vaccinated before getting pregnant. so the effect of antenatal vaccination on birth weight cannot be assessed. According to the article by Blakeway H et al2 it was necessary to exclude women who received vaccine before pregnancy in order to yield accurate results pertaining to the efficacy of antenatal COVID-19 Vaccine against low birth weight. There has been a concern among the population regarding the side effects of the vaccine on the fetal as well as maternal health which contributes to the hesitancy of receiving COVID-19 vaccination during pregnancy 3. It was necessary to address the concerns as well as general misconceptions related to COVID-19 vaccinations so that a wider population of pregnant persons can be vaccinated. By establishing the safety of vaccination; a rise in antenatal vaccination may be observed and would subsequently lead to few COVID-19 cases in pregnancy4. 1Gaur P, Darwin KC, Kohn JR, Uribe K, Shippey E, Eke A.
