According to Hannah Arendt, the invisible activity of thinking is revealed to the world of phenomena through language, and with the help of metaphor, it is only through contact and communication with the world in which human beings live together. Metaphor does not contribute to any truth perception or knowledge in the phenomenal world where sensory perception takes place, but perpetuates the activity of thinking in pursuit of invisible meaning. This article first examines the nature of thinking as a meaning-seeking activity distinct from perception developed in Hannah Arendts The Life of the Mind. And this article will show how the impulse to think is realized in the world of phenomena in the poetic language of metaphor. In it, we will try to explain the activity of thinking, the limitations of the language that captures it, the relationship between poetry and philosophy, and the nature of metaphor for saying the unspeakable. Metaphor arises from a railless poetic thinking that is not fixed to any particular language or meaning, but continues the search for meaning. Arendt finds this metaphor in Benjamins writings. This article will explore the process by which the metaphors that Arendt found in Benjamins writings, such as the Bucklige, the Flaneur, and especially the Perlentaucher, arise.
