- W4384157410 abstract "Biocatalytic membrane can be widely described as a state-of-the-art membrane process in which biological entity (e.g., enzyme) and nanoparticles are used. Such a combination is used widely in laboratory scale studies and so it demonstrates the potentiality to be applied in wastewater treatment applications. In particular, encapsulated enzyme, for instance, laccase within nanoparticles can inevitably result in an increasing the performance of removal in dual-microfiltration approach; nonetheless, encapsulation technique is economical for industrial application and allows us to use large volumes of the laccase enzyme. In today’s world, the removal of the micro-pollutant in water has become a vital environmentally challenge. Modification of polymeric ultrafiltration via non-covalent (adsorption) technique can significantly enhance the enzyme stability and reusability during the micro-pollutant removal. Apart from enzyme immobilization, more efforts should be made in biocatalytic membrane structure design for a practical application to enhance the subject of residual activity and operating stability of laccase-nanoparticle in the acidic and cationic pH and distinctive temperatures and results showed that laccase could be well immobilized on nanomaterials. The X-ray spectroscopy and Coupled Plasma-optical emission spectroscopy (ICP-OES) analyses were also demonstrated the presences of dispersion of laccase-nanoparticles in support membrane and ions leaching respectively. In this mini review, we demonstrated the main method used for preparing biocatalyst membranes which are called enzymatic nanoparticle membranes. In specific, the Laccase enzyme will be immobilized onto nanoparticles (NPs) by encapsulation technique in order to prepare the novel enzyme nanoparticles, and it also adsorb physically (non-covalent bond) on the surface of polymeric matrix for removing harmful pollutants. In addition to that, this review indicated the recent progress on dual-functional ultrafiltration biocatalytic membrane in the industrial application." @default.
