- W4384284356 abstract "Pulsed discharge plasmas have attracted increasing attention in the physics of electric discharge due to their potential applications in different areas. Its characteristic quantities and optimizations are the key points for further discussion in the field of atmospheric plasmas. Numerical simulation is an efficient and important method for analyzing pulsed discharge plasmas at high pressure, which could provide physical information usually difficult to obtain from experimental observations. In this chapter, the fundamentals of fluid simulation and the theoretical knowledge and practical methods of high-pressure pulsed discharge modeling are introduced, and then, using the one-dimensional fluid model the underpinning physics and the optimization of the pulsed Dielectric Barrier Discharges (DBDs) and barrier-free Nanosecond Pulsed Discharges (NPDs) are separately discussed by calculating and analyzing the temporal evolution of Current–Voltage Characteristics (CVCs), electron density and electron temperature, as well as the spatial distributions of electric field and plasma species density. The characteristic quantities in various discharge parameters, containing voltage plateau width, voltage amplitude, pulse voltage rise rate, and repetition frequency, are also systematically simulated and studied. Computational data have been partially contrasted with experimental observations and qualitatively show good consistency. This simulation study offers valuable information for optimizations of high-pressure pulsed discharge plasmas with the consideration of different discharge conditions for potential applications." @default.
